| Whether singing, dancing or acting, Temple Passmore has spent most of her life on-stage. Born into a musical family in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee, she grew up surrounded by many types of music; the bluegrass of her heritage, the singer-songwriters of her parents generation, and the classical music of her ballet studies. After graduating from high school, she continued her musical growth at the University of Tennessee, where she studied Musical Theater, and where she fell in love with jazz music. Temple's first professional experience came when she worked as a singer/dancer at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. Performing the same show every day for thousands of people taught Temple some things about the less romantic side of the music business. But she kept coming back for more because "It;s my life, my dream as a kid. I love the kitchen so I have to take the heat." Temple recorded her first album in 1995. An independent release, "I Can't Hide My Heart" focused on her love of traditional acoustic music. The album combined bluegrass and jazz and was an excellent showcase for her beautiful voice. "I Can't Hide My Heart" was well received in East Tennessee, selling well at Dollywood and getting airplay on a Knoxville radio station. After leaving Dollywood in 1996, Temple performed around East Tennessee until moving to Atlanta in 1997. While in Atlanta, Temple performed in places like Border's, Barnes & Noble, The Point, Limerick Junction, Starbucks and Eddie's Attic. In 1998 she married musician/writer Brent Cundall, her musical coconspirator. The two have written much music together and have logged many hours on-stage as an acoustic guitar-vocal duo, including a stunning performance at the Variety Playhouse, where Temple was chosen as a finalist in the 1999 Lillith Fair Talent Search. 1999 also found Temple in the recording studio, working on her latest CD release "Patchwork". Another independent release, "Patchwork" features Temple performing an eclectic mix of jazz, pop, R&B and folk music. The CD contains several of Temple's original tunes as well as songs penned by Brent Cundall and some interesting covers. 2000 saw Temple embark on an entirely different sort of creative endeavor, with the arrival of daughter Aria. This arrival led to a scaling down of the musical ventures. Temple and Brent moved to Knoxville to bring Aria into the world, doing a handful of shows in East Tennessee. In 2001, the call of new opportunities brought Temple et al to Music City USA, Nashville, TN. Since
her arrival in Nashville, Temple has been busy stoking her musical fires
again. 2003 promises to be the biggest one yet with the independent release of "Patchwork" and a CD release party at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. Watch for more exciting things from Temple in the year to come. Temple's influences are varied. They include Shawn Colvin, Alison Krauss, Sting, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and The Beatles. Temple performs as one half of a duo with Brent, and with a full band as well. Her voice is bell-like in it's tone and purity and she exudes energy and confidence on-stage. She is a dynamic performer with an exciting career ahead of her. |
